From the National Economic and Development Authority
Officials, staff, and guests of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) participated in the conduct of the Metro Manila-wide simultaneous earthquake drill on July 30, 2015 at the Central Office in Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
The drill was a simulation of NEDA’s evacuation plan arising from a 7.2-magnitude earthquake patterned after the Metro Manila Development Authority’s “Suggested In-House Earthquake Drill for Government Agencies” and PHIVOLCS’ “How to Conduct and Earthquake Drill in Schools.”
“Being prepared for natural disasters should be a way of life for Filipinos, especially for areas that are at high risk such as Metro Manila. To mitigate the risks coming from these disasters, we need to invest in preparedness. Thus, the government ensures that disaster risk reduction is being mainstreamed in the process of national planning, budgeting, and programming,” said Economic Planning Secretary and NEDA Director-General Arsenio M. Balisacan.
